Tennessee native Dawson Halliday is bringing his love of developing leaders and serving the community to his new role as franchise owner of Chick-fil-A’s first stand-alone restaurant in Ooltewah.
When the Chick-fil-A restaurant opens at 8959 Old Lee Highway it will be the realization of a dream for Halliday who has had a long history with the brand and vividly remembers sitting on a pickle bucket, peeling carrots in the back of his father’s Chick-fil-A restaurant in Tennessee.
Mr. Halliday spent many of his childhood and teen years helping at his father’s restaurant, being actively involved in the day-to-day operations as well as their community. Those family experiences at Chick-fil-A remain some of his treasured memories during that season of life. Mr. Halliday, whose grew up in Knoxville, is excited to make Ooltewah his home where his family already feels such a connection.
Mr. Halliday, who previously worked in the operations department of a national chain of truck stops, remained a loyal Chick-fil-A customer and a fan of the chain and its focus on handcrafted food and personalized customer service. Recently, as Mr. Halliday was considering a career change, he realized the Chick-fil-A franchise Operator role fit his entrepreneurial goal of owning a business where he could have a positive impact on his employees, customers and community. He and his family have made the move to Ooltewah and are thrilled Chick-fil-A has brought them a community that already feels like home.
“I want our Ooltewah Chick-fil-A restaurant to be a gathering place, a place where people and families can count on fresh food, fast service, and a warm, welcoming atmosphere” said Mr. Halliday. “This is a wonderful opportunity for my team members and I to create those experiences for families that made such an impact on my family throughout the years.”
Mr. Halliday is currently looking to hire 100 team members at his new Ooltewah restaurant, filling full-time and part-time positions in all areas of the restaurant, including leadership positions focused on talent, training and administrative support. Among other benefits that include scholarships for continuing education, Chick-fil-A restaurant team members appreciate having Sundays off, flexible schedules, and the family atmosphere fostered at the restaurant.
Named one of the “best places to work” by Glassdoor, Chick-fil-A is known for hiring, developing and retaining talent, offering a supportive workplace with opportunities for leadership development, respect for work-life balance and competitive wages.
Chick-fil-A team members are eligible for the chain’s initiative, Remarkable Futures, which this year awarded $14.5 million in annual scholarships to more than 5,700 team members. Ranging from $2,500 to $25,000, the scholarships are based on leadership, community involvement and academic achievement. Over the years, Chick-fil-A, which employs more than 75,000 people through corporate positions and franchised locations, has provided more than $60 million to help pay for college.
